About Me

Hi Everyone! My name is Jackson Yager and I am a fourth year Health Information Science (HINF) student at UVIC.

Throughout my degree I have been able to explore many topics related to Health Information Technology and how it can improve healthcare delivery. This semester I am even taking a course on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare which I am quite excited for. Through the HINF program, I have completed three co-op work terms over the past three years. My first co-op was in Whitehorse, Yukon where I got to train nurses and physicians pn how to use the Electronic Medical Record system used in Yukon Hospitals. I have also done positions with Island Health and Fraser Health authorities. This summer is my last semester before I graduate and head out into the real world!

Outside of school, I am passionate about sports & fitness. I like to play pickup basketball and football with my friends, and I am playing soccer and volleyball Intramurals this summer. I like to work out, you can see me at the CARSA gym 3-4 times a week. I have also recently got into running. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone by running a half marathon last fall and loved the experience of running in a big race with thousands of people cheering on random strangers.

I have just recently got into reading (trying to replace some of my time spent on Instagram reels) so let me know any book recommendations, I especially like historical fiction and outdoor adventure books. I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone this term!
